The Cruel Prince by Holly Black

Image
The Cruel Prince Author: Holly Black Rating: 5⭐ Genre: YA Fantasy Review: I really enjoyed this book! I didn't really know what to expect going into it because I hadn't read the faeries book before this for more context, but I felt it wasn't needed. I loved the interesting point of view of Jude because at times, she definitely could be a dislikable character. While this book was mainly fantasy, there was a sub-plot of romance that will hopefully be continued in the next 2 books! I also thought the plot twists were carefully curated and really amazing. The sister (twins) drama between Jude and Taryn was also very engaging and added a bit more to the original plot. Overall, this was an unexpected 5 star read and I highly recommend! Can't wait to read the next books! Synopsis: Jude was seven when her parents were murdered and she and her two sisters were stolen away to live in the treacherous High Court of Faerie. Ten years later, Jude wants nothing more than to belong t...

The Love Wager by Lynn Painter

The Love Wager Author: Lynn Painter Rating: 4⭐ Genre: Romance (friends to lovers, fake dating) Review: This book was really good! I loved the banter and the relationship between Hallie and Jack. Lynn Painter never fails to write a good romance. This book was definitely on the shorter side, but still enjoyed it all the while. Hallie and Jack are absolutely adorable and I just love friends to lovers and fake dating so much and this book had both! I love how they knew everything about each other before catching feelings. Jack fell first, which made this book so enjoyable to read from both point of views. I was definitely laughing out loud and blushing on the spot while reading this! I 100% recommend if you are looking for a quick, light, and fast paced romance book!  Synopsis: Hallie Piper is turning over a new leaf. After belly-crawling out of a hotel room (hello, rock bottom), she decides it's time to become a full-on adult. She gets a new apartment, a new haircut, and a new wardrob...

The One by John Marrs

Image
The One Author: John Marrs Rating: 4.5⭐ Genre: Thriller Review: Oh my gosh, this book blew my mind! To put it simply, this book was unlike anything I've ever read before. The way John Marrs wrote this book made it so engaging and I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. I loved how many different point of views there were (even if I got confused at times) and how each story was so different and unique from the rest. I will say that the plot was very odd, but it worked because it grabbed my attention. John Marrs came up with a very unique idea that sort of grasped at the question of soulmates. It was told in a very eerily realistic way and definitely felt like I was there in that dystopia world with them. Overall, I really enjoyed this book and may possibly bump it up to 5 stars if I continue to think about it! I recommend if you are looking for an eerie thriller that isn't too scary but definitely realistic. It really demonstrated how the world can make its own mistakes,...

The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren

The Unhoneymooners Author: Christina Lauren Rating: 4.5⭐ Genre: Romance (fake dating, enemies to lovers) Review: I really, really liked this one! Christina Lauren gets it every time, and this one was just so sweet and heartwarming. There was drama, conflict, misunderstandings, and I was so in it every step of the way. I adored this book SO much and if I continue to think about it more, I might bump it up to 5 stars. This book definitely had me laughing out loud and the character development and dynamic was just amazing. It was very similar to People We Met on Vacation by Emily Henry (which I rated 5 stars) so if you enjoyed that one, you need to pick this one up! Overall, amazing read and I just loved it so much! Synopsis: Olive Torres is used to being the unlucky twin: from inexplicable mishaps to a recent layoff, her life seems to be almost comically jinxed. By contrast, her sister, Ami, is an eternal champion...she even managed to finance her entire wedding by winning a slew o...

The Book Proposal by KJ Micciche

Image
The Book Proposal Author: KJ Micciche Rating: 3⭐ Genre: Romance  Review: While reading this book, I had quite a few thoughts. At first, I thought the main character just wasn't very likable and I didn't enjoy reading the book from her point of view. Later on, it did get better--but that just wasn't a great feeling right from the start. At times, I found myself wondering if I was reading the actual book or the retelling she's giving of the book she was working on. It was too much about that and not enough about the actual plot of her life. I also guessed the small plot twist that was going on about the whole situation of Colin and Gracie. I will say, though, the descriptions were really nicely written and long, so I got to actually be able to visualize the people. I also enjoyed the little flashbacks to high school sprinkled throughout this novel. Lastly, I liked how the story wrapped up and the book that Gracie decided to write was based off her own  life. All in all,...
