Review:
I loved this book. Now, I didn't know if I'd love it because of the Groundhog Day repeating trope. I've read about 3 books that have been apart of this trope (not including this one) and every single one I didn't love. I think it was mostly because the repeating day lasted too long and it would be get really boring knowing everything coming next. But, this book hit different. I love all books by Lynn Painter. I rated Better Than The Movies 5 stars as well because it was just as amazing. I finished this book in 2 days and absolutely adored every moment. It was really short read, but it worked out perfectly for this book because the repeating time loop trope ended earlier than most other books I've read in similar tropes. After Em had a long day (DONC) getting to know Nick, I didn't want him to forget every moment. Instead, she went to February 15th! Also--I loved that it was set on Valentine's Day. The additional family drama about her mom and dad added a little bit more flavor to this book that I didn't even know it needed. Nonetheless, this was definitely and amazing read that I'd 10/10...or 5 star recommend! Let me know your thoughts!
Synopsis:
After living through a dumpster fire of a Valentine's Day, Emilie Hornby escapes to her grandmother's house for some much-needed girl talk and companionship. There, Emilie passes out on the couch, but when she wakes up, she's back home in her own bed. That's not the only shocker, though--somehow it's Valentine's Day. Again! And the next day? Another disaster V-Day.
It seems that Emilie is stuck in some sort of time loop nightmare that she can't wake up from as she rewatches her boyfriend, Josh, cheat on her day after day. In addition to Josh's recurring infidelity, Emilie can't get away from the enigmatic Nick, whom she keeps running into--sometimes literally--in unfortunate ways.
How many days can one girl spend passively watching her life go up in flames? And when something good starts to come out of these terrible days, what happens when the universe stops doling out do-overs?
